Suriname - Indigenous Peoples Day
Suriname is a Dutch ruled country in South America. They a mix of African, Caribbean, Dutch, and Indian flavors. This week we had a bit of each.
Fresh made Roti with a Vegetable Masala, Surinaamse Zuurjiik (Suriname Sauerkraut), Pinda Bravoe (peanut soup), and Bojo Cake (coconut and cassava flourless cake).
I made this sausage and sauerkraut dish I found on a blog by Kelly Caresse. I had a hard time finding recipes in English, so I used Googles translate function to decipher what we had going on there. I made some adjustments by using Tofurky Kielbasa and lowering the amount of tomato paste and allspice.
My birthday party was a few days after this week, so I was pretty busy and have my mind more in preparations of that. The following is the photos of the other dishes made this week. I apologize for the lack of description this week, but really…does anyone even read this stuff? If you are dying to know more info on anything here, send me a message, otherwise enjoy the photos and next week I’ll be back on point for our Bolivia Flag Day celebration.
